This training course is a combination of both on-road and off-road driving to ensure the delegate understands the techniques required and how the vehicle reacts in every situation.
A typical course can be run over one day for up to 2 candidates.
The course will involve an in classroom or in car theory element depending on the availability of a room. The theory session will last around 1 hour. The rest of the day is taken up with the on road session with lunch generally taken on the road. The day ends with a final debrief and risk profile.
Techniques used are very different from on road driving therefore learning to drive on road and passing a driving test is not sufficient training for driving off road.
The course is a full day for moderate conditions covering safe working practices, vehicle checks, control systems, vehicle & tyre limitations, journey planning and communications, as well as plenty of hands on driving practice.
After the classroom theory presentation, delegates have the opportunity to learn all the basic off road driving techniques. The hands on element of the training includes ground appreciation, assessing routes, securing the vehicle, using appropriate gears, ascents, descents, side slopes, ditches and safe recovery from failed situations.
With up to 3 delegates per vehicle this course is exceptionally good value and include certification, advice & guidance notes and course summary with a de-brief of the drive and a written report on future development needs.
Considerably improve the safety of your fleet and employees.
