MINIBUS PLUS+E is our Enhanced Minibus Course aimed at drivers who have never driven a minibus previously and therefore for are unlikely to have had any experience of driving a vehicle of the size and weight of a minibus, or ever having taken on the responsibility that comes with the safe, legal and comfortable transportation of up to 16 passengers.
The aim of the course is to present candidates with a comprehensive in class theoretical element providing up to date relevant information covering all aspects of current best practise and legal requirements surrounding minibus driving. This is followed by a practical element where within limits, the time and content of training delivered is unique and relevant to each candidate, this allows the candidate to improve confidence and ensure they are competent in handling a minibus in everyday road traffic situations.
Classroom based interactive theory session lasting 1.5 - 2hrs hours and practical on-road training provided on a 1:1 trainer to candidate ratio.
Numbers are per trainer, multiple trainers can be supplied on request.
Numbers trained per session assume no previous knowledge and only a basic level of skill shown in minibus driving. Training may also reveal that a person requires extra time behind the wheel to reach a competent level or that having tried; they do not wish to continue with driving the minibus on behalf of the organisation.
Training can be split depending on the preference of the organisation and the availability of candidates.
The theory element is an interactive PowerPoint presentation covering aspects of minibus law, road traffic law, driver regulations, minibus safety procedures, emergency breakdown and evacuation procedures and passenger comfort and safety.
At the beginning of the practical element candidates are shown how to conduct a pre driver walk around safety inspection and ensure the safety of passengers before leaving for their destination.
The driving element teaches how to handle the vehicle in everyday situations and encourages an attitude of driving the vehicle with responsibility, care, consideration and courtesy. Candidates are a shown how to handle road traffic situations with awareness planning restraint and control. Manoeuvring, reversing and parking the vehicle are conducted off road and tips are given on how to avoid these situations whenever possible by pre planning.
