Minibus Plus+S

MINIBUS PLUS+S is our standard minibus course for drivers who are currently driving, or have had previous experience driving a minibus but have had no formal training. As these drivers should have a basis of minibus safety knowledge and are familiar with the vehicle both the theoretical and practical elements of this course will take place on 1:1 format with the trainer allowing for an increased number of candidates to be trained within the timescales available.

Course Information

The aim of the course is to ensure participants have a sound theoretical knowledge of all aspects of minibus safety and asses and build upon their existing practical skill levels whilst correcting any unsafe driving or procedural practises which may be displayed.

Theoretical element provided on a 1:1 trainer to candidate ratio, this can take place either in the vehicle or in a room prior to the on-road training. On road practical element provided on a 1:1 trainer to candidate ratio.

Numbers are per trainer, multiple trainers can be supplied on request.

• Up to 2 per half day session, per trainer
• Up to 5 per full day session, per trainer

Numbers trained per session are dependent upon existing knowledge and skill levels and are based upon a reasonable level of knowledge and skill being displayed.

The course can be run over a half day or full day depending on the preference of the organisation and the availability of candidates.

Topics Covered:

An individual theory session on an A4 flipchart checking and where necessary improving upon the candidates knowledge of legislation motoring law and best practises of minibus driving including a review of breakdown, accident & emergency procedures. Candidates will be shown if necessary the correct vehicle checks and safety considerations necessary prior to a journey.

The driving element looks at the existing skill level of the candidate, their attitude toward driving and their interaction with the moving traffic and fixed hazards encountered on a daily basis. The importance of awareness planning restraint and control are reinforced and considerations are discussed relating to the different handling characteristics of the vehicle when fully loaded. Manoeuvring reversing and parking the vehicle are conducted off road and tips are given on how to avoid these situations whenever possible by pre planning.
